Ontopic Wall Street protest[s]...things

I love how people think that because one or 15 people have been successful, that everyone can. How on earth do you think that's logical?

There are only so many avenues for success, and only some much money in this country. Not everyone can be rich or successful. Period.

Why should everyone be a millionaire? And moreover, why should we abolish millionaires because some people won't become one? Laissez faire would get tossed out the window.

The only problem I have with the OWS types is this. If those bitches really want change, then it's time for them to start a revolution. Drum circles ain't gonna do shit.

So, in short, OWS types are all kinds of pussies.

I'm not saying everyone should be millionaires. I'm debunking the bullshit that everyone can be successful. Everyone can not be successful. There is not enough resources for everyone to be successful.

There is if people are willing to relocate. That is a huge barrier from people being successful.

That option isn't off the table, but people want to exhaust all other options before they decide the option that will lead to a large number of deaths.

Quit focusing in the everyone and start focusing on the can.

Not everyone can run a marathon, but most people could if they were absolutely determined. Most simply wish they could but never train or try.

There really isn't. Maybe back when this country was founded there was, but now that the population is so big, there really isn't.

If you live in NYC and are trying to be say a Dr. You might not be as successful. Now if say you move to Montana where there isn't a high collection of doctors you will have no issue being successful.

Your right, not everyone can be rich and successfull. everyone has the chance though, some take advantage, some skip school to play modern warfare 3.

And some have a HUGE head start over others. And those who are already rich are making even more money. The more money you have the more rapidly you can make more. The richer one gets, the hardier it is for another to become successful. There is only so much money.

I agree with duke, the ows people are pussies. If they take it to revolt though I think the support would grow to include everyone with balls.

I understand what you are saying and agree with it, but I'm talking on a much grander scale.

Who gives a fuck if someone had a huge head start. My point is most people aren't even trying.

They all have the opportunity to achieve. Some people obviously have more advantages, ie financial backing from family, parents that give a shit, etc... Some people gotta work 10x harder but they can still come out way on top.

My buddies ex wife immigrated here from russia when she turned 18, went to school, graduated with a masters in structural engineering, paid off her student loans, etc. she now makes six figures doing r&d for building materials. She also got a real estate license and sells homes at night, has reinvested all that into two rental properties and shes looking for a third. shes in her mid thirties now..

she ain't even american and she managed to pull off the american dream. From birth, I've had every advantage over her and shes still more successfull than me. Stop your bs, you are where you are because of your own choices in life, not because of someone elses choices.

We are absolutely affected by the decisions of others. We have to compete in the same job market, even though I may have all the luxuries and resources in the world and you have the clothes on your back. When we're in competition, I'll do what I can to beat you and get the job, including using those resources. When you say everyone has a chance at success you might be right. But if you were to assign probabilities on those chances based on social status and wealth, I'm sure it doesn't come out 50/50 between us.

If everyone in this country put in 100% effort, not all of them will be able to reach success. WHY? because there is only so much money, and only so many resources to support only so many ways to be successful in this country.

Well yes in that case you're correct for every country that is passed its industrial revolution

When not everyone can be successful no matter how hard they try, it leads to people not trying as hard. They lose the motivation. They could even turn into something that is a burden on society. This is when a nation needs to adapt more of a social mindset, rather than a selfish mindset.

JFK said it best: Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

Right now, those that can really make a change for the better here in this country are the haves, not the have-nots.

So? It never will be even. Even in communist countries it isnt even.

Doesn't mean you say fuck it, waw was born with a silver spoon, so I might as well give up and not try. We are still given the chances and opportunities...

I don't think anyone here is arguing for Communism or any other sort of ism.

I'm saying using the American Dream to justify the status quo is retarded.

Well you also have different degrees of success for each person.
