Halp Help me pork my next dog

Once I have the purebred dog I want. I would love to then get a rescue dog, but later when Emmett is a little more grown.

Ugh dogs.

If I want something to nag at me constantly for attention; force me to do chores; forfeit my time; and punt around the house, I'll just get a wife.

april, i respect your hardcore love for animals ... but i think Liam going the route of not rescuing a dog is a right decision for him because he has a small child.
and i dont wanna be that person and say IF YOU HAD KIDS YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND... ok maybe i am gonna be that person, but honestly, Liam and Julis young boy is going to grow up with this dog right from puppy life and learn about taking take of a dog and the responsibilities of having a dog... I think thats great. he will have this amazing bond with his puppy for the next 15 yrs. Just like Liam had with his now dead dog...
Rescue dogs isnt for everyone.
i disagree...I believe its the over protective parent bubble we put kids in these days. Is a dog, they are very unlikely to hurt their pack unless they are being mistreated.

I'm a bit offended that Liam thinks rescue dogs are more likely to be unpredictable thanzd purebreds...cough inbreds.

:waw:

Over protective bubble? There is no second chance with an animal that can tear apart a child. I'm not going to listen to a non parent tell me about being over protective. That's the epitome of ignorance.

How is a dog with a history with other owners going to suddenly accept the family as it's masters as soon as it enters the house?

Now you think purebreds being inbred is the more significant benchmark to judge a dog's temperament is absolutely freakin asinine! for one, dog inbreeding is less of a problem now because of the ability to link up with other sires or dams around the world, unlike many years ago when people would only breed their dogs with others local to them. I have also told you that temperament problems can be avoided with vetting of the parents which you can rarely do with rescue dogs.

Jesus. He's never said that. He's said he wants a puppy so he can start the proper behavior around kids early. And he wants a purebred because he wants a purebred. You don't think he's getting a bit offended that you keep pressing rescue dogs? Well we'll help you out. I just looked There are no presa canario rescue groups in the US That means even if he wanted to, he can't.

To be fair you can find Presas Canarios at general rescues. Unfortunately the common problem with these type of dogs is that the type of people that originally take them in are assholes that mistreat them. I would love to take one of those dogs in and rehabilitate them, but not around my child.
