Thread Weekend Accomplishments

Bought a car then went to the Leukemia and Lymphona society Man and Woman of the year gala Saturday Night. Black Tie event at the Downtown Hyatt. My buddy won it last year, and was trying to this year but there was to many hi profile names in the competition so it was more than a little unfair. It was an interesting crowd to rub elbows with. Got to meet Jenn Holloway  and Jennifer Leigh (local news babes here in Tampa. )

this reminds me of a skit from snl or maybe the simpsons. "who does that bitch think he is having more cancer than me!"

Wednesday morning I drove up to Kansas to see my fam. Stopped at my Mothers first and we hung out for a while. Then my grandfather came over and tried to help me set up a place to do some 1000 yard shooting. It did not work out, but I was able to smack some dirt around 880 yards. Thursday I went to see my Father , Sister and my new Nephew. He's a chubby cheeked lil sucker. Friday I was back at my mothers and she ran over her cat, so I took it to the vet and she now has a 3 leggeded cat. He's still a pretty cool cat, just has 3 legs now.
Gramps came back over and brought some pistols and his AR. We shot at some steel for a lil bit then spent the afternoon hanging around outside cleaning pistols and talking about whatever
Saturday I woke up and got ready to go home, bad news though my truck was proper f*cked. So I left it w/ my Father, my Mother drove me to Tulsa where my other Sister lives, then she drove me home. I should be flying back to pick up my truck on Thursday.

I have 4 day weekends, so I did quite a bit.

Pretty much the same thing that happened to this guy. When I bought the truck they put a sh*t battery in it. I plan on replacing it w/ a red top when i get it back home.

Also cool bit of info. To hit a harget at 880 yards w/ my .308 using match grade ammo I had to aim 26 feet above my target. That being said it will still hit harder than a .40 calliber bullet at point blank range.

its common knowledge the 308 has horrendous bullet drop.

the awesome part is there's so much ballistic info out there on it you know it'll drop 26 feet at 880 yards....

Had to work a few hours early this morning and work on my son's science project this afternoon. bleh Other than that lazy weekend of reading and gaming.

I'm so glad I asked to take tomorrow off in my report to my boss on what I fixed at work earlier. He was planning on having me OTDR test fiber between buildings tomorrow with the helper idiot. Damn squirrels have damaged fiber between two sites already this year. I'd rather try testing with my 9 year old short attention span son than with that moron.

I've used an OTDR before. It's been a while though. I'm in a global NOC now. I really miss the field work sometimes.

That goes away once you actually have to go back out into the field again.

lol, I'd just like a mix of both. When I was turning up and building crkts on flashwaves it was a blast. Long hauls were boring and I felt like we had to many people working on them. That and when the company was broke things were tough. The company I used to work for now uses iphones and all of the MOPs that we needed to gain access to a building are sent to your iphone. I hated keeping up w/ all that paperwork. %90 of the work i did was for AT&T. They can be butt heads about letting you in a building.

What are you doing wasting perfectly good rye on making bread for? Do you not have a still?

No, but me and Dad have been talking about setting one up for years. It's on the to do list. I just need to find the right design for limited space.
Besides, I figured I'd try homebrewing first since yeast is already my bitch.

edit: and for anyone who wants to try that rye bread recipe you'll want to pick up some diastatic malt powder. I had to order mine online (from the King Arthur flour website), but you may be able to find it in an especially froo-froo grocery store.
