So I guess "they" are raising movie ticket prices (oh, and Im short)

I prefer being at home watching a bootleg movie than sitting in a dirty theater with [admin edit] kids crying and phones ringing.

imho, $10 isn't a show stopper. Ape and I have an above average HT setup, but I would still prefer the movie theater for blockbuster films.

edit: lol, ape and i disagree.

I still prefer to see the really great movies in the theater with the full surround and the giant screen. Unfortunately, there hasn't been a really great movie that has enticed me to go to the theater recently.

but ain't that some sh*t?! after the movie I stood up to the rail and asked 'em "Ya'll the dudes who went and tattletaled?! CAUSE I WAS LOOKIN AT MY CELLPHONE?! Ya'll need to get out a little more man if that's all you got to worry about"... slow day at Nerd Camp or somethin... them boys didn't say a word, quiet as church mice..

That's cause you're scary.

How can an expensive dirty theater beat out cuddling on the couch with our goodies and free movie?

maaaaaaaan, don't even get me started with this.. but I heard about the keypad thing too..

my movie experience:

long story short, took my nephews to see Pirates of the Carib. on Saturday (we prob spent 60 bucks total, including the wife, sheesh) and these 3 teenagers sitting behind me went and snitched on me... said i was "taping the movie"...

i had moved down to the first, spread out row cause my knees were starting to hurt in them tight ass seats.

That's what the wheelchair accessible rows are for ;) The Regal theatre near me has those. Can lay right back in the chair and not worry about knocking your knees on the seat in front because there aren't any seats in the row in front of you. Also, they put that row right in the middle of the theatre which in my opinion is the best place to watch the movie, for sound and visual purposes.

I like the movie theatre for action movies. I don't go see movies all that often, like 4 a yr maybe. So the cost of tickets going up to $10 isn't a deal breaker.

The sound and picture. theatre > 6.1

(Especially IMAX releases)

IMAX is different, I'd go to the theater for that obviously. :fly:

With the sub hooked up now it'll feel just like the theater, plus our house is cleaner and quiet. :D

other than a few bruce campbell movies in indie theaters, I have not seen a hollywood movie in a theater since 2002

hollywood largely doesn't know how to write stories anymore and it disgusts me

I went to the theatre to watch the LOTR trilogy. Other than that I've only been two other times in the last four years, and those times were when there was a group of people going and it was more about the going out than the movie. I'm fine watching movies on my 21" CRT with 2.0 sound.

if i only had the space for a DIY projector and seating room with a sweet media center setup and 7.1 surround.

shit like this just keeps pushing me closer to excavating the area underneath my backyard and building a secret man bunker.

I like drive-in movies

It's $15 for a car for two movies at the place near us, they have a snack bar, you can obviously bring your own cooler ( :chikken: ) and food, and you can see the screen almost all the way into the can.

We have one literally down the street. Just dont go when the planes are flying becasue its right at the end of the runway... just across the street... oh and next to the rock quarry.

But good times with a pickup and an air mattress.

And i hear from the old timers they use to show porno there and they could sit out on the roofs of the neighborhood close by and watch it.
