We can get bombers from the US to the opposite side of the globe in about a day. Your criticism of the analogy kind of falls apart with that because it shows we are still "in the neighborhood "

I can get to the other side of the neighborhood in my car pretty quick too. Doesn't mean I buy a garage for it there and leave it there with a driver on standby.

I don't buy this whole "we have to have our military in everyone's backyard or everything will fall apart" idea.

Also, we don't go into places militarily just because there's some humanitarian evil going down. Likely several places around the world right now that could really use us doing that but we won't. Might send some forms of aid, maybe some "advisors" or something but we won't come with the sort of military force that could just slap it down and stop it.

No there has to be something else in it for us to do that.

Some political power play, toppling/installing some government we want, propping up the petrodollar, some strategic move against some other country for some reason, commandeering resources for our globalist corporations to get rich off of, etc, etc.

It always has to be something else. It's never solely because we are awesome people who want to protect the weakling from the bully. That's not good enough. There has to be something more we can take.

Thank you Steve.

Supporting cheap energy (aka oil) is supporting the American lifestyle, chief. You benefit from it. I benefit from it. The only people who don't benefit from it are the poor schlubs between us and the oil.

That's why I have a problem with that whole defending America "and her interests" thing.
Defending our land and our people's very lives...good stuff. But that "interests" part gets a really damn broad definition.

Yes I know we all benefit from it in some way. That doesn't make it right.

Is this going to end up with you declaring yourself the king of the cavemen, and telling us all that you live simply enough to do without?

Because that's a load of bullshit, and you know it.

By “we all”, you mean Americans?

“Her interests” is as broad and ever-changing as the “war on terror” where you can manufacture enough public support to get away with justifying anything

Well I manage to turn on a light without talking to it so there's that.

Also manage to use the bathroom without needing a 15th TV to put in there.

I'm sacrificing here.

Yes I mean us here in the USA.
And the rest of your post couldn't be more spot on as well.
