I did not get the pencil thin carb bowl gasket back into perfect position in it’s not very accessible spot as evidenced by slight dripping.

Is there something I could put in it’s place like around the rim of the carb bowl? Is make-a-gasket still a thing?

RTV or anything similar will work on that carb bowl. Read the package and get one that's OK for fuel.

Thin smear on the gasket. You won't need 99.9% of the tube so get the smallest one.

In a shocking turn of events, the kid's engine is back in the car today.

Still need to swap the pilot bushing and put the clutch back on, then mate the trans, put the driveshaft back in, and then the exhaust, but yeah.

It's in the car.

Gotta go make some hang tags for the steering wheel to remind that there's no oil in the trans or the engine.

5%-. In highschool on of our friends was this Mexican family that moved up there from Brownsville, TX for some reason. Oldest daughter and 2 sons were around my age so we hung out and went to keg parties and stuff.

That winter we were on the way to some party so I just drove across the lake to get there instead of going all the way around.

She thought I was joking or something but when I first pulled out on the ice she yelped a little bit like the very beginning of a scream but then she got such a shock of fear she went completely breathless and her fingers were literally putting dents in the dash grabbing it so hard.

Was halfway across the lake by the time she could talk again.
Dude I have a new neurosis now. Holy fuck.

Once this thing finishes printing, I'm heading out to the scrapyard to get some 17" rims. Distinguishing 5x112 from 5x114.5 rims is a pain in the ass, I could bring calipers and a calculator and shit but this should make things go a lot quicker.

That is awesomely practical!

Got some sort of gauge to get offset too?

Yes OMG I can only imagine how it is driving there in the winter! I have driven in snow and almost had a heart attack in the process 😂. The tires are the only thing attempting to hold on to the slidey road, I would put CLEATS on the tires if they would help

This is so true for the way things used to be in the chicago burbs. AFTER we'd get 12" of snow they'd make a determination if schools would be closed. If.

But us driving now? pft. Looks like the plow's been by once. Let's go before the liquor store closes.

Owner at the farm was looking for a part for one of his Tractor's carb. ~$40 for it locally. He has the wife go online. To me, "So get this. I have her check the computer and for $8 more I got a whole new rebuilt carb WITH the new part! I don't even have to put it together! They sent the whole thing to me."

*He's also still amazed at the iphone he's had for a year. "I just take pictures of part numbers and go to the parts store. It's pretty nice!"
