this discussion would be so much better without all the spun statistics, imo. those numbers don't begin to address the harassment, invasion of privacy, and outright intimidation that blacks experience. i've been pulled over so many times its like hell. so fuck the half truths that those stupid numbers "do or don't" reveal. the man hours and resources spent shaking me down for weed could be better spent on sensitivity training. i'm sure these numbers soothe white America, but so many of those figures are twisted to fit the agenda. if people want to quote percentages, use the proper formula, and complete the equation. bad math is bad! intelligence trumps emotion, imo.
btw, this thread is, otherwise, very good! ;)

I made it to the "Baltimore Maryland" cops list before I had to stop.

I think their agenda is to confuse the population enough so that it doesn't make too much sense and people go "Well that sounds horrible".

When in reality, in a job where 10s of thousands of people in a position of power confront "civilians" everyday in a population of over 300 million, and out of those 300 million people, 1200 are killed... 1200 out of 300million. That's really not a lot of people dead, especially when the murder rate in the city of Chicago is about 1/3 of that by itself... Hmm... maybe the cops are doing something right...

duuude,.. my Mom gave me the "talk" one night and i freaked out. i was just another "naive as hell" teenager with a good upbringing and positive outlook on life. i thought she was crazy, lmao.
i don't hate the police. some of my best friends serve. but every now and then some hothead makes things very edgy.

Couple of disturbing things...

1. The police chief basically saying people protesting (aka, exercising their rights) "puts police in a lot of danger". That's code for "we need to quell all this excersizing your rights stuff. We're cops, you bow to us". By all accounts, the people actually involved in the protest were doing it peacefully.


2. Why do all these media stories mention Dealy Plaza? It's fucking downtown Dallas. Anywhere there isn't far from Dealy Plaza. They're just trying to get emotional reactions and make as big a stink as they can.


OK, 3. Sorry august.

3. The cops bombing a guy, which continues to be mentioned as if it's no big deal. They're trying to normalize the cops bombing people.

I'm with you on this.
First 4 people were suspects, then they kill the one guy who THEY say did it.
Now, other attacks on cops but very little press.
Something hinky going on (my Galaxy phone tried to turn hinky into honky lol).

It is so fucked up that Americans have to teach their sons how to act with the police, and even more fucked up that some mothers have to worry about it more because their sons have dark skin.

A friend of mine is a deputy (yes, Florida, sheriffs, ridiculous I know), and he teaches all his kids' friends how to act around cops, and older people about their rights on search, and what to do if you don't know if you'll blow just above or below .08 etc.
