It doesn't matter! We've got to stop killing them and start trying to HONESTLY figure out why they want to kill us.
Because they want us dead. That's it. There's nothing to think about. They're brainwashed from birth to hate Americans because we intervene with all of their fucked up shit over there in the interest of "Israel".

I'd be willing to say that if Israel didn't exist and the book of Jesus wasn't written, we wouldn't be in this predicament.

"I want you to die, copper"

How to respond?

OK, I'll hug you. :)

It's in our (as a nation state, I mean) best interest to make sure that the region producing the vast majority of our energy is not a runaway train of lunacy.

edit: then again, look who is running for president here.

Well if it really was Syrian muslims who carried out these acts of terror then the obvious thing for America to do is invade Egypt.

uh, no. one of the great things about so many muslims in europe is that finally we'll get to invade a country that isn't a goat fucking sand pit

edit: though since it's europe we'll probably do it years later than necessary

I'd like to hear your logic about how banning magazines infringes on the constitution.

ah yes, we have the right to bear arms so let's start banning the parts and pieces to get around it.

similar to saying freedom of speech. but let's pass a state law so it's only spoken, we can ban written cause we can't let people be writing shit down or posting shit on the internet and to disseminate ideas.

1) Too late

2) Don't you mean cheap energy

3) We could already be energy independent if we made the sacrifice of investing the money we do over there into the energy production and efficiency over here. We could very easily become energy independent. But the Christian right would revolt against a government that stopped protecting Israel, we as a nation would lose all of our allies and we wouldn't be able to spread "democracy" and more than likely, our international trade would take a huge hit.

We'd essentially become isolated from the rest of the world.

1) yeah :/

2) cheap or not, our lifestyle is predicated on the ready availability of fossil fuels.

3) that seems more like an article of faith than an actual policy proposal. The government would have to lead that sort of thing, and we're stuck in the rabbit hole of quasi-privatized energy production. PG&E in Cali isn't a government operation, and they're about as likely to use a more expensive fuel source as I am to stop masturbating with vaseline.

This is why we needed to stop buying oil from the middle east years ago.

the majority of our oil now comes from onshore, or canada.

We still buy some, but its a very small amount compared to what it used to be.
