Fuck sake I wish people would stop trying to compare our figures with yours. They aren't statistically comparable. A knife crime in this country is counted when someone is stopped and has even a Leatherman in their car. In 2014 there were 26,370 assaults with a knife and 332 deaths. The rest of the statistics are for posession. Meanwhile you average about 12,000 deaths a year from guns. 12,000 versus 332? What point were you making again?

I didn't realise the border between Chicago and the rest of America made it so hard to bring guns in. Maybe you could use the same isolation techniques to control immigration.

What? You mean the laws preventing people from obtaining guns without a permit doesn't work when you can skirt the law and get them somewhere else?

So you can't, without resorting to a calculator, immediately see the difference between 322 deaths out of 58 million and 12,000 out of 300 million? I'll give you a clue. knife deaths in the UK are about 5.5 per million a year, gun deaths in the USA are about 40 per million. One figure is a lot larger than the other. Which weapon is more dangerous?

If people had to go to Mexico and smuggle a gun in would they be less or more likely than if they simply have to go to a gun show 20 miles away? You can't just outlaw guns or introduce gun control in one town and expect them not to come in from nearby. Gun control would have to be federal obviously.

Be honest, would you rather I had a gun aimed at you or a knife? Which could youn run away from easiest? Which one is more likely to inflict a fatal wound?

Here in America, Mexico comes to us because the Americans will pay big bucks in cash for things they can't get legally.
