why do those of you who don't believe in christianity celebrate the holiday?

i have no idea about gifts yet which is really annoying because i've been trying to think about them for a month now and have gotten nowhere. it's all crap and no one needs anything and what they want i can't afford to give them. i hate this gift crap.

I support a season of generosity and thinking of others... and I love spoiling my neices and nephews. Most Christians gloss over the Christ part anyway so I'd say these days it's more of a Capitalistic holiday than a Christian one.
