as for the original question, yes, i have known murders. both currently in prison. one will be out next year. He's been in since '93

As a gun owner and having been around them pretty much my whole life, no. I've never known a murderer or even anyone that's been shot. The closest I've come is my aunt's brother who hung himself in the backyard for his family to find the next morning.
