I've got an old IDE drive full of old stuff that I'm unloading onto my NAS.

Came across this in a text file. An unfinished country song that me and my brother wrote in 1996. There's chords and a guitar solo that I came up for it, but we never could get the chorus figured out.

YO MOMMA WAS A TRUCKER

Verse #1:
Drivin' down the highway, hairy arm hangin' out the side
She's yo big fat momma and she's goin' on a highway ride
With cowboy boots and a big navy anchor tattoo
Ya better watch what ya say 'cause she might get nasty on you

Chorus:
'Cause yo momma was a trucker, drove a big bad ass peterbilt
Weighed five hundred pounds, stank enough to make the flowers wilt
...? (couldn't figure this shit out)
and it's a real big shame that a trucker was a momma to you

Rest of the verses:
She was eatin' at a truck stop when they started makin' fun of her beard
So she grabbed one by the throat and she smashed 'em with a bottle of beer
Buddy's friends ran to help and they started a big roadhouse brawl
But yo big fat momma ended sittin' on top of 'em all

She was speedin' one day doin' 80 on the route 52
Smokey caught her on the radar and he chased her with the red 'n blues
He pulled alongside and told her to slow down and yield
But yo momma hawked a loogie and it smashed through the car windshield

She looked out the truck window, saw a sign and she said HORRAAYY
'Cause it was a restaurant with an all you can eat buffet
It was at this time yo momma done gone and met her fate
'Cause she couldn't stop eatin' and she choked to death on the plate.

Anyone else have old dumb shit to share? Or can fill in that chorus?

Ha. The missing line is right in the hook.

Hearing a melody with it can really help find the right phrasing/rhythm of the words.

I'd also change the rhyming pattern of the chorus to help set it apart from the verses. Don't have lines 1&2 rhyme, then 3&4 rhyme just like the verses do.

Using less words in the chorus, or words with a different phrasing/rhythm pattern to them also help set it apart as a hook and not sound like another version of the verses.

Be a lot easier if you had a recording that was just missing a line.

Royalty %% if you use any of these ideas. None of this flat rate union scale bullshit.

I like it. What jt deserves is to be recorded live one mono track on an Ampex from 1961 on two inch magnetic tape with whatever was the condenser mic of that era hanging from the ceiling.
Fender Twin Reverb and Bassman amps. An old Kay bass, a pair of telecasters and a Pearl drum kit.
Fuck New Country.
And one of the telecasters has a B bender.
