Thread Windows 7 and the 'God Mode' folder

Discussion in 'useless chatter' started by Duke, Mar 16, 2010.

  1. Um....this isn't a good thing

  2. Why not. From professional standpoint, it's a great thing, as long as end users don't know about it. I could give a fuck about telling them. I'm just telling you geeks to make your lives easier.

  3. It's because end users will find out.

  4. Shit, 95% of them still don't know how the fuck to access the control panel in Windows XP. This one doesn't worry me.

I mean, come on. Renaming a folder. Easy for us. Typical end user? Impossible.

  5. which is why you end up with

    New Folder
    New Folder (1)
    New Folder (2)
    New Folder (3)

    etc

  6. :wtf:

  7. Ina Fried, I Wasted.

  8.
  9. I'm an end user and find this titilating.

  10. It's not the typical end user you have to worry about, it's "that guy" in development who refuses to bend to the corporate will.

  11. This works in non-Pro Win 7 versions as well.

    I'm running Home Premium.

  12. Exactly. Or that one guy who always asks you questions about the registry. (Like I'm going to tell you)

  13. I'm sure they'll come out with a way to lock it down. companies don't want shit like this being available to your avg schmoe in accounting

  14. There are apparently a ton of these folders and they don't care.

btw, just add the folder to your dropbox and you'll have it on every PC you log into.

  15. haven't gotten off my lazy ass and windows 7'd my laptop yet

  16. Well, you should.

  17. yeah, the more I use it, the more I like it.

  18. So it's worth the upgrade over XP?

    Cuz it seems expensive.

  19. Then you're no hacker!
