Thieves operate on the principle of "If I can get it easily, I'll take it".
Now...if the theif knows how to disable the alarm within a few seconds...well...you're fucked.

Moral: Don't make your car attractive to thieves.
I keep my car in a garage, but I would expect that if you're going to bash in a window, grab stuff and run, that tripping a car alarm won't really matter too much.

Steeling a stereo takes a little while sorta, but yea...stuff sitting on a seat is a simple break-and-grab job.

That sucks. I had mine broken into at the Old Speghetti Factory in ATL. They got my radio. Broke my window. What sucked even more was I had just pick up my friend from the airport and his suitcases got stolen.
