I say hi or wave or something to acknowledge them yes. Unless it's some busy area or someplace you'd be saying hi 50 times per block.
I only say hi if someone else says hi to me. I'm fond of the head nod. A nod up for for people my age ish and a low downward nod for old farts.
Going to pick up her grandsons to stay the night. With any luck much mayhem will ensue. Roman candles, bonfires, bb guns and beer cans, sword fights, and whatever else we can get into. All without helmets, pads, orange cones, or any semblance of adult supervision.
I like to be especially cheerful to grumble-bums in the extra wee early hours , then accentuate it by slurping my tea as loud as possible .
I keep em in bounds, I just set the bounds way over there. Give em some room to figure out for themselves if they're going too far or not. Ya know, like grownups have to do.
