WTF Where's the UFC 117 thread

Shouldn't have taken the fight then. brock was down forever and waited to get better so he wouldn't have any excuses. sick or injured is a legit excuse for backing out of a fight. It's a bullshit excuse for losing or getting your ass beat.

Brock was hospitalized, and potentially life-threatening. That's a bit different than a sinus infection or bruised rib. BJ never said a thing about it, but his camp came out with it a few weeks later i believe. Same with Shogun, about two months before he won the title, he had his appendix removed. That would definitely slow down the training for sure, but he went out and took care of business. Guys don't often pull out of fights due to sickness because they don't get paid if they don't fight.

Injuries happen. Not everyone can make such an easy call from their position of whether to take the fight or not. Some feel they can win regardless of the injury.

But it's still there call, if they make and lose they can't use it as an excuse. It's like having a safety net to fall back on to save face and it's bull shit. fighters are in a unique position to be able to delay fight s for a few month, other sports don't get that luxury.

no, you'll get cut if you keep delaying fights. see Karo Parisyan. Fighters are hurt most of the time, it's part of the job. If you pull out of a fight the week of, you're screwing over the UFC, especially if it's a headline fight. They basically still have to pay the other guy because you'd be fucking him over also, and there would have been a lot less PPV buys if Silva pulled out.

bj finally took a loss like a man, didn't have his mom defending him or anything this time. Don't bother watching the fight because it was extremely boring, but neither fighter really did anything. You could have judged it a draw and nobody would've argued.

You are making excuses for why sonnen handled silva so well. Silva even knew he was getting stomped or there.

someone always steps in and takes the fight to replace an injured fighter, they have interim titles for the dudes holding the belts who are injured and fana haas stated repeatedly that silva always draws the fewest people. He choose easily backed out with very few problems.

you don't do a title fight at the last minute ffs. these guys train to fight a specific style of fighter for months. the only reason dana did an interim HW fight is because he thought Brock would be out for 12-18 months. nobody wants to see interim title fights all the goddamn time.

Dudes back out of fights frequently, its not something new. Someone always takes it as a non title fight just to be in the octogon and all is well.

People can think that they are ok to fight, but then come fight time, they find out it's a huge disadvantage to him..asdhf;asldkfj;alsdkfja;sldkfj fuck this. You only see black and white..
