obama managed to take the billions of dollars in the stimulus and use it to prop up existing government programs instead of using it to create private sector jobs and build infrastructure as promised... so i guess it'll turn around as soon as we get a new president.

Known a couple people that got laid off, had new jobs before the severance pay ran out.

Although I will say that the local niche businesses are suffering, the local dive shop closed in September of last year and we just noticed last week
i know alot of people that have been laid off, and whether they found a new job or not depended LARGELY on their skillset and what they do. the admin people have all been fucked.
i don't know - dessimating manufacturing jobs and industry which kept us afloat since the industrial revolution seemed such a good idea in favour of the service sector work that this correction in the top heavy economic pyramid has drummed up such anger in me that i might just post about it on an internet forum

Once upon a time, most things around the house (and later on the car) were DIY.
Then we started hiring people to do it all for us.
Now with the proliferation of slackjawed retards to every facet of service, screwing up even the most basic things, it's becoming easier in the long run again to DIY for many things.

Don't have time to do everything ourselves, or the tools to do so with regards to the car.
Our new trick is to hire someone for a small job first, check them out.
If they show up on time, work the hours they say they worked, clean up after themselves, and do exactly what was asked - nothing more, nothing less, THEN we'll hire them again for something else.
