What's a good GUI to you?

Ok, how's this. I'm working on a design scheme that can be implemented enterprise wide to standardize touchpanel interfaces in conference rooms. Basically it has to be made simple enough for even the dumbest people to be able to use the system to show off Powerpoint or dial up a video conference. The panels range in size from 6" to 18" and can control various things in the room, from lighting to HVAC, to source transport controls, to switching.

Large buttons with bold lables and lots of yes/no confirmations

what about something like what they do for the self checkout terminals in the supermarket? That's fairly intuitive and easy to use.

this should be painfully easy. big honking buttons made in photoshop using the bevel/emboss layer filter. pick a color scheme you like or that's company-specific (heck give them a choice of themes if ya want). you're not looking for a GUI in the broad sense.
