GAY What are you thankful for?

I played it for a while years ago, was pretty fun but takes forever. We'd have like a 5hour session and all we'd do is kill 3 goblins and agree to move out of a cave.

i think with modern dnd thats improved. Pathfinder, d&d next, etc. They realized that not everyone liked to spend 2 hours on a single battle with a kobold.

we'll play roughly two to three hours once a week and usually get in at least one solid encounter plus some story development. our last DM was a good friend but a stingy motherfucker and didn't realize that you can't give the group a sandbox world if it's the first time you've played with them. our new one who also DMed the last game before the canadian took over is more flexible with the rules if they'll get in the way of the story or simply having fun.

some of the best times are unrelated to the story or combat..
"you're now in waterdeep, what do you-"
"I want a hooker"
"ok...what kind"
"i don't know...a mermaid?"
"...roll"
nat 20
"ok, you find a mermaid prostitute"
