the Comm group pushed out a package to all the PC's here (1200 of them). Thats all well and good and all, but the package is to install the AF standard image of XP. It has a 50 minute countdown timer and if anyone hits the run button, it will wipe their PC completely.
Now that isnt so bad, except we just found out when people started calling in about it. After making some calls, we were told it was a Tivoli update. So we told people not to worry about it, but dont run it, and if you did no big deal. Then were were told what it really was. Now we're taking bets on how many people will hit run.

haha!

Why in the fuck would you even have a setup to do that in the first place? Someone should lose their job over that, or are the PCs backed up?

Some one dumped a test script into the wrong GPO (official explination). The comm group is a bunch of men in green camo uniforms. No one will lose their job. PC's are not backed up.

wow, just wow.

YES! freak 8 second power outage, and no battery backup units on any PC's.

I need to leave before a fire breaks out or a tornado rips through or something...
