So, for silly "security" reasons, they made the network admins at work get a second domain account. This account was to be our Domain Admin account and is to be separate from the regular daily login.

This makes running things like Active Directory Users and Computers a pain in the ass to someone lazy like me. Therefore, I wrote a program/wrapper to launch an application with alternate credentials. Double click the app name, enter password, bake cookies.

Since some of you are here are IT monkeys, thought maybe this could be useful to you as well. It's written in AutoIt and includes source code, if you care.

Hmm, might try this. As it is, I just RDP into my DCs for most of that stuff. They make us have a 3 account for Domain admin stuff and a normal account for base level windows here too.

when i need to add stuff like dns entries on AD, I need to be an admin user, I just shift-rightclick, run as. seems pretty simple I thought...

We do credit card processing for like 600+ credit unions, so yeah its kinda warranted. Still a PITA.

If you look at the config file, I'm also using it to launch RDP with the /admin switch. So not only does it fill in my ID on 08 servers, but also consoles me.

Yeah, but win7pro can pre-store credentials for RDP logins. All of my servers are all pre-set so my ID is already pre-entered for my RDP sessions.

Npt trying to steal your thunder though, and thanks for making this available. I'll give it a try and see if it does make things easier with some toolsets.

Just out of curiosity, why not just create a shortcut like this?

C:\WINDOWS\system32\runas.exe /savecred /user:domain\username "mmc c:\physical location of your admintools.msc"

This program prevents me from having to make 75 shortcuts just like that. :)

Gotcha. I only need two shortcuts which is why it isn't that big of a deal for me. I'll definitely keep this tool in mind though.

Yeah, Ive got a ton of stuff to launch. No idea if anyone else would find it useful, but posted it just in case. :iono:

neat little app

too bad i can't use it because all of our stuff is cac/pki reliant so nothing's going to change the fact that some days I have to log into the same machine with three fucking IDs

 it would be nice if just one ID covered everything but no

I have one CAC as a user
two as an admin contractor because the navy and marine corps are on isolated networks
then I have to get an ID badge for whatever base I'm on that week
then I have to get a swipe badge to get into the SCIFs I'm working in and if I'm lucky the same badge will get me into every SCIF at the site but sometimes a particular unit will require their own or demand we be escorted

mondays are always a completely useless day because I spend more time getting all the various access lists and my clearance verified by pass & ID or security offices. it's fucking retarded and just when they're considering revamping the security procedures to be more efficient some dickledong mcassfuck puts some shit on wikileaks and boom, shit's twice as stupid
