Ontopic Video Game Violence

If video games promote violence then boxing, martial arts, or any contact sport must promote violence too.

One need only look at human history to see that our species is bathed in blood. And video games have only been around for what, 30 years? So I think it's safe to say that video games have nothing whatsoever to do with our need for conflict and death.
how long have violent video games been around though? i mean, astroid was vicious, but i don't have the urge to go blow up rocks in space with a triangle ship.

the guy presents it exactly how it is. it is not the fault of video game developers that kids get their hands on violent games, there are rating systems and stores aren't allowed to sell them to minors... it's the parents fault.
now i'm no psychologist and i've never done any studies, but whether games affect kids is not the issue since they are not intended for kids and there are already measures in place trying to prevent kids from getting them.

On my days off I have somehow become the dad for all the kids in the neighborhood. I think that's largely in part because half of them aren't totally sure who is their real dad. I listened to a little girl explain to my son that she has 7 or 8 siblings by like 4 different guys and that she and one sis was living with her grandmother for a while. Birth control should be mandatory to be on any government food assistance program. The drug dealer next door last night told me he was just one of 9 kids his dad had with one woman but he had another 5 or 6 step brothers and sisters. Wtf?!

I'm hopefully moving in about 2 months. Ghetto life is not for me. They are a weird cross of out right crazy and stupid. I want my son away from all of this but I'm just trying to make the best of a bad situation. I made friends with all of them because they won't rob from a friend. They all have a if you watch my back I'll watch yours mentality. I loan them tools etc all the time and they always return stuff promptly. If I had kept to myself and acted stuck up they would have just stolen the tools. I sometimes feel like Dian Fossey.
