Dad who killed son running for MP [Canada]

LONDON, Ont. - A Toronto man who strangled his son to death in a London, Ont., hotel room and found not guilty by reason of insanity is running as an independent candidate in Huntsville, Ont.

David Carmichael says he's trying to raise public awareness about anti-depressants and the hold he says big pharmaceutical companies have on government.

Carmichael, 52, is taking his pitch for office to voters in Parry Sound-Muskoka, the riding held in the last Parliament by federal Industry Minister Tony Clement.

"Our interest as a family is public education to prevent tragedies like ours," Carmichael explained last week to a reporter.

The shit they are pulling in India right now is some serious bullshit. Their ruling that their seeds are intellectual property is unbelievable.
Corn is intellectual property too. The corn you buy from stores will not grow a corn plant if you planted it. It is genetically modified seed that only has one plant cycle.

Freaking scary our food is controlled like this.

Rising Gas Prices Expected To Increase Exxon’s Earnings By More Than 50%

The country’s five biggest oil companies — BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and Shell — made a total profit of nearly $1 trillion over the last ten years. In 2008, ExxonMobil broke its own record for most profitable year for a public company in history by making more than $45 billion. And according to an analysis in the Wall Street Journal, rising oil prices in 2010 mean that Big Oil’s profits this year “could come close to rivaling the industry’s record year in 2008”:

What's fucked up is how much gas prices figure into the elections now. I was reading something the other day discussing that the easiest way to have Obama lose the reelection when it comes up is for gas prices to climb during that period. The people tend to vote a replacement person in to see if that improves their everyday life no matter what the other person's platform.

to put that exxon $45b profit figure into perspective, the entirety of time warner is worth less than that and that was their take for only 1 year
