It's fucking freezing in here today. This is me at my desk right now:

The building I work in has a completely useless HVAC system. I realize that the majority of office buildings have poorly balanced ventilation, but this place takes the cake. The baseboard heater barely gets warm to the touch and doesn't stand a chance of keeping the cold weather at bay. On mild days the afternoon sun turns my office into a goddamn hothouse requiring the use of, get this, a free standing, portable air conditioner. I don't even want to think about what it's going to be like in summer.

But enough griping from me. What indignities and annoyances do you yahoos and office slaves suffer?

I have a coveted window seat, with the ancient HVAC vent right behind me.

Normally it's 100 degrees by the vent in winter and I need a short sleeve shirt, and 50 degrees in summer so I need to keep my bike jacket on.

Today it feels like it's blowing cold air though - could be the delightful -10 with the wind chill it is right now.

My room is always cold cause it's north facing, but I have a bunch of south facing windows downstairs and yesterday with the sun shining it was probably 75 in here. Today is supposed to be even warmer then yestersday (we may actually make it ABOVE freezing) so it might get to be 78 or so.

my office is generally a bit warm because I have 7 computers running in here, but beyond that, there's not much complaining I can do

i work in a mold encrusted basement. The people in charge deny the mold, even though they tore out an entire section of drywall down here and covered it up with plastic. Loosely covered it up. In fact, i get all stuffed up when i get in to work each day. I love that the government can get away with it.

My computer at work is a Compaq thing, but it's not a computer. It's one of those little doohickies that has no hard drive or cd drive and runs through a central hub. It's slow as shit and I am the only one in the office without an LCD. My monitor looks like an old Apple IIe without the keyboard. It's literally over 2' deep and the screen is muddy and makes my eyes blurry. The fucking thing is so slow I can't even consider watching a video. There's also no ventilation in my office. It has no windows. It's like being in a casino. Coupled with that, the girls up front turn the ac off and leave the front door open so up front it's like 78 degrees. In the back, with no ventilation, it's in the lower 80s. I'm buying a gun on my way in today.

Our office is exactly the same. It's either 107 or 30. There doesn't seem to be a setting in between. Right now I'm bundled up in fleece with a heavy leather jacket on.

we have a starbucks down stairs at my place and its always 72-74 degrees.

its the ride to work on the bike with a wind chill of 2 degrees that bothers me.

The only real problem I have is being bored and lonely. There's only me in my office and I tend to forget social protocal when dealing with co-workers. When they do come in it is as if someone hit the cannotstoptalking button. It sometimes drives me crazy. :(

that and they promised me new desk/cradenza and file cabinets... 4 months ago.
