yes. it reinfects itself with in 10 minutes.
I've tried hijack this and a few others. which don't seem to see the virus. right now I'm attempting to back up some of his data so i can try to restage the damn thing.

do you have access to ntfs dos? if you can find the files that keep reproducing the shit, kill it manually in ntfs dos

that is just it. it's some unknown variant that seems to be spawning from somewhere else. it's almost like the machine is infected with some new unknown virus that is just reinstalling transponder at every attempt. it's also reinstalling wwwcoolwebsearch now. Fuck i hate this user.

at least i found the point of infection. his open home wireless connection and a wife with a porn habit.

Have you tried search and destroy?

edit: I have the most dangerous search habits of anyone I've ever met - I use two free programs to combat my carelessness AVG Anti-Virus and Spybot Search and Destory - they've handled everything so far (many years)

does it still run in safe mode? if so, get the name of the .exe from task manager while in safe mode and then ntfs dos delete it

There are only so many ways it can start dude. msconfig shows just about all of them. Find it and delete it.

spybot finds nothing. adaware finds nothing.. right now I'm just tired of it all.
so you delete VX2.dll and then after awhile it comes back?

edit: in regedit the key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{00000000-5eb9-11d5-9d45-009027c14662}
