I have made Pad Thai before, but never dealt with making tamarind paste. Learned something new!

picture.php

All of the ingredients except the shrimp... it's on the other counter.

picture.php

Broke out the scale and started measuring the ingredients for the sauce. The yellowish item on the left is palm sugar that was used on the microplane. (Did I do that right?)

picture.php

The tamarind. It came as a block and to get the paste I had to add hot water and strain it. PITA

picture.php

Time for a break... two glasses, but I'm the only one drinking. One day I'll break Zac into loving tea.

picture.php

The paste that took FOREVER to create enough of. :)

picture.php

The mess made while creating the paste. Notice the strainer; the stuff looked like velociraptor shit.

picture.php

The completed paste... to the fridge!

picture.php

What is up on the chopping block...

picture.php

Zing

picture.php

Noodles soaking and the sprouts chilling.

picture.php

All of the ingredients in order of what goes in the wok first.

picture.php

BTW I hope you use cage-free eggs...

picture.php

Peanut oil, tofu, shallots, garlic, shrimp, chikken, and chopped turnip

picture.php

Noodle, water, eggs, bean sprouts

picture.php

The sauce then the garnish..

picture.php

Tofu

picture.php

Shallots and garlic

picture.php

Chikken.... threw this in a minute before the shrimp since it takes a tad bit longer to cook

picture.php

Shrimp!!

picture.php

Smells good at this point

picture.php

In goes the noodles

picture.php

The eggs...

picture.php

Everything is in! Took about three hours (taking pics at the same time adds a umm.. bit of time)

picture.php

De fucking licious

We both ate SOOO much and still have some leftover for lunch tomorrow.

Lots of fun and yummy to boot. :) Post what you cook! I know you fuckers won't, but blog threads suck.

At least I'm good for something...
At LEAST!!!!! Sheesh...

Have another recipe for me to try?

I have a zillion places around me
You do not understand the concept of a home cooked meal. Has it been that long for you since you have cooked something?

There is something special about it.

whats with the pebbles in your sink?
Our ugly white sinks scratch so the 'pebbles' are protectors.
I find Thai food to just be a poor excuse for Chinese food :p
I've always found Thai food to be much better quality than the Chinese food places around herer.

Plus Thailand and China are two separate countries... wtf are you trying to say?
