Maybe he should upgrade to the pound town 5000.

You gotta get a tall ladder and clip jumper cables onto overhead power lines to run the 5000. But since it's running off 13.8KV 3-phase instead of domestic 220V service, the current is much less and you don't need the heavy 4/0 AWG power cable anymore. Also it bypasses the distribution transformer feeding your house and your neighbors, so you don't have to listen to your neighbors bitch anymore because your vibrator set the pole transformer on fire and took out their power.
I fucking love well thought out engineering.

from a couple years ago. I wonder if he finally did electrocute himself stealing power from the transformer. Or if the PoCo just removed the transformer.

He would have been clamping onto the low voltage side - odds are you won't electrocute yourself doing that, but you'll probably give yourself a bad enough jolt that you'll fall off the ladder and die from that. If he clamped onto the high voltage side, he'd be nice and crispy.

Car jumper cables on ACSR conductors won't give much of a good connection, you could probably pull a few tens of amps but after that you'll probably just burn up the connections.

"Hey man, I got some new 2 gauge jumpers(actually did) and some sandpaper. I'll just make a clean spot on the aluminum and slather it with some VOLT conductive grease. All will be good bro-ham"

It's a fucking story and a half, isn't it?
I can’t imagine witnessing something like that, or the aftermath. Sheesh!

I kept seeing Ash Williams in China when they mentioned that the engineer was Bruce Campbell.
I saw him as Elvis narrating the story.

BTW, he did the best Reagan impersonation ever.

all for softwood too. For what... paper products? theres less and less paper in the world, we should have plenty to recycle and reuse by this point

Worth cutting down if nasty wind storms roll through that area frequently. I'd rather not have a tree cut my house in half.

There was a house near there that got smashed a couple years ago. It’s the only one I know of and I’ve lived here for 31 years.

The owners are on a tree cutting binge at all of their properties. It was even on the news two years ago because it was almost criminal how far they went.

Owned by a company that is mostly owned by a “church” based in California with California-style landscaping practices. It used to be lush around here, now it looks bald and eroded.
