that looks like Dolichovespula maculata although without some closer pics it's hard to say for sure as there's some lookalikes. outdated common name is bald-faced hornet (but it's a yellow jacket, not a hornet)
Hopefully there's some people in there that saw it and thought it was way too hilarious to say anything
