We did 6 miles and my shins are killing me. I think my feet aren't used to heavy shoes, as compared to the minimalist running shoes I wear.

Did you wear socks?

I wear "hiking shoes" all the time. Kind of a beefed up tennis shoe with good tread for mud, rocks, etc. Not running shoe light obvs but not bad. Comfortable. Durable. Nowhere near being a boot. Likely all you'd need for anything in Florida.

Or is that what you mean by "heavy shoes"?

They make ultralight hiking footwear too if you got the big bucks.

Yeah, my hiking shoes are quite a bit heavier than my running shoes. I also had a pack on with lunch and waters and shit. Pretty sure its just my legs adjusting. Hell, since the pandemic started, I rarely wear shoes. And when I do, my running shoes are super light.
