Yes, but without knowing much about these, I don't see a real way of draining it. Not sure if this just have pipes or a reservoir that can be drained or what.

Well, like with a "real" pool, Im sure all the plumbing works are off around behind the garage or something.
You do all the draining/filling from there.
The lengths of pipe to and from are buried.
 
Wonder if you could install that in northern states or not.

it's not that tough. it could be heated to 38 degrees all winter so it doesn't freeze. If it's insulated at all, that won't be difficult, nor expensive. 36" down (fairly sure it's called the frost line) the ground never gets lower than 55 degrees. Put a little heater in it and a bubbler & you'll maintain liquid all winter.
