Ontopic There is something interesting going on in the Middle East

No they can't. It all goes on the same market, #2 feed corn. And the farmers only grow corn and soybeans because they don't have any other choice anymore. They have literally been enslaved by Cargill and Monsanto.

So it happens it that level then.

It's still a fixed amount of corn available because the government subsidizes the industry.

Its not fixed tho. Its a strange cycle that when corn gets cheaper on the open market, farmers have to grow more to break even. It the last 10-15 years, our corn output has doubled.

It's worse than that, they have to buy larger and larger equipment to handle the growth, which in turn uses more fuel and consumables like gear oil/filters/tyres.....and so on.

So of course, they can't afford to keep that equipment just sitting there, they have to continue to expand....

What did I post the other day that we're up to, 92 million acres of corn?

Corn is pretty efficient to grow. Its one of the reasons why its our main crop. The entire Midwest couldn't keep the city of Los Angeles afloat in biofuel, according to the book Collapse. Won't work my friend.

corn rapes the fields soil quality and isn't nearly as efficient as switch grass.

ethanol sucks anyways. takes alot of gas and resources to produce, and for shittier gas mileage... not to mention it makes gas go bad in about a month, so don't leave it in your lawnmower (or ATV ) for the winter. seafoam only does so much to extend its life...
