I will post new and nifty geek gadgets in this thread as I find them. Comment on them or post new hotness you find.

Offtopic (not about gadgetry) posts in this thread will be deleted.

First up, Savit Micro's new mp4/divx/xvid/blah blah blah codec appliance. http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news_9744.html Drop in your own HDD and enjoy media up to 1080i from the DVI port. HAWT!

UPDATE 2 :
Slingbox was released officially today

http://www.slingmedia.com/

If you haven't heard, in a nutshell, it takes whatever you feed it and streams it. It also has IR emitters built in so you can change the input/channel/etc. remotely. How's that useful? Feed your digital cable into it and you can watch it on your PC at work ... and control what channel you're watching. Pretty badass if you ask me.

Except that the receiver is DVB-T and entirely useless over here since digital TV is broadcast in ATSC.

The one I linked to is software selectable.

thats kick ass.

Treo 650 Baby. With Sprint tho, not Cingular. This thing is dead sexy. And it actually take good pictures! (The 600 took the shittiest pics ever)

Why don't you post a pic of the present we got you last year (at least I think it was last year)? That's pretty geeky :fly:

So I'm assuming the IR emitter sends the the channel change signal from my pc through the box to the device that I am controlling? $249 is a little steep I think
