bummer. My family has 529 plans for each of the kids. It's primarily contributed by my folks, with the understanding that I'll be funding my grandkids' 529s (or w/e the gov't comes up with then) when the time comes.

We're lucky that there is a public IB elementary school two blocks from our house. The middle school is so-so, but my wife teaches at our high school. That will be nice in 9 years.

Some of you are young enough(or this still applies) to remember when your folks cut you off from the last piece of financial assistance. Maybe it was your car payment, a student loan or your cell phone. I'd been thinking I needed to do that. Got a phone call yesterday from an insurance gal -"your son Anthony gave me your number". Asshole(he's on the spectrum, imo) had been told not to do that - again.
So, spurred/stirred by one phone call I finally bucked up and gently told the last 3 that July 1st(not dealing with it on the holiday) is Financial Independence Day for the 'Rents. The youngest two were like "oh dad, it's been long overdue, you've done too much really but I have appreciated it".
Ant-knee, the guy who gave my phone # to a stranger? Oh, he was mad as a mother fucker and through a series of text messages burned several bridges. 'Spergers!    🤣

It's really not "funny", I'm just trying to normalize it because it got so "accusatory" with the oldest - he truly can't help it but I can't keep helping him. It isn't helping.

I saw your sad face Jeh - yeah, sometimes the "smartest" one does the dumbest things. You've shared that experience :( back at ya.

:) He ain't gonna die. He just needs to find $40/wk in his budget. I'd recommend more work and less 'tude.
