woohoo, the turbo and exhaust are separated from the wastegate and the exhaust manifold. All I have left to do is rotate around to TDC and dismount the belts, then the head is free.

Oh, and the rocker arms on the L28 look like hammered shit, so I ordered a new set.

IDK where that divot came from or how it wore in, but I'm glad I ordered new ones.

The cam, springs, retainers, and keepers should come tomorrow, the rockers on Sunday. Then the L28 will be back together.

Fresh coat of Datsun blue on 'er to get it shit-shape again.

The head is on my bench right now with the valves shut and the cam out, soaking the combustion chambers in brake fluid so I can make sure the valves aren't leaking any.

My daughter asked to participate in her elementary school's drive-through graduation today (since she's going into 6th grade next year, and leaving elementary school). When I asked her which car she wanted, she decided on the GTO, so I went and got it out of storage, but I'm waiting until later to return it (swap for my red Z).

It's too big for the red car's spot:

Hit up a guy's backyard shop to get something welded. Dude does all manner of car projects for people and people are always swinging by talking shop, and bringing along interesting cars.

Old guy showed up with this. He's a Nissan guy, also has a 280ZX, a Skyline of some sort and a Sentra Spec-V... and this is his new weird toy.

This is the backup car for the blue Maxima in the original Fast and the Furious movie. It got modified by Stillen with a supercharger so it could do a burnout in a scene, except Matt Schulze couldn't drive a stick so it's an automatic. He had all the paperwork to go with it, showing it was owned by Universal Studios at one point etc. The car was vinyl wrapped blue for the movie, but it was removed afterwards.

Went German for the Final Solution™ to the Nissan's ignition issues.

Coils are off of a Porsche Cayenne. Included in the kit are two laser cut spark plug gallery covers, a bypass for the 6 transistor igniter pack, and adapter harnesses from Nissan to VW.

Got to get a new set of plugs that I can run at their stock .044" gap instead .025".
