Ontopic The new car-seching thread

That there is the nicest ride you'll experience ever since they stopped making the true full size, built-on-a-frame cars like the caprice/Impala or J's old Cadillac, ltd's, Lincoln town cars, Chrysler cordobas, etc.

Thanks. I hate it.

@Jehannum
Not sure which Z motor got swapped into that. But. Yeah.

it’s a coupe
it’s too small.
i’m a flight attendant who hauls suitcases all
the time. we just need to upgrade to something bigger
I've bought a few vehicles since hanging out on these forums and what I've learned is that these people are not the people you discuss a car purchase with. I made the mistake again earlier this year and felt discouraged immediately. I don't think I even reported back with what I got because I'm pretty sure people would just shit all over it.

I highly recommend you get a car you love and works for your needs and even if it puts you in a little debt, just enjoy the fuck out of the vehicle every day and remind yourself that it was worth it.

To our credit, we took a shit on the Subaru and you wound up hating it.

So I got some room to work on my project again.
John's a good dude for giving me space in his garage.

I got a new car. For the kids.

It's a '15 GTI. Originally, it came covered in purple triangles, which knocked about 3k off KBB, so I paid about $12k OTD for it (it's a fairly high-spec version). 4 door, 6 speed manual, 18" hotboi black painted wheels, and a Unitronic tune (something like 300HP, though I'm having it removed to get to a known-good OE configuration for them).

Dumped the triangles, keeping the hotboi wheels until the tires wear out, then it'll get shod in some 17x7.5s and less expensive, higher quality tires.

It's clearly been owned by a yobbo. The only thing I found in the car was an unopened condom, and a bunch of wire tiebacks, which gives me hope that said yobbo didn't hack up the wiring in the car too much, instead preferring to run wires around for his 12V accessories from the ciggy lighter.

I had finally gotten the nerve to go talk to the neighbor up the street about his Volvo wagon, but got nixed by the wife because a 2015 is SAFER, lol.

I have 4 sets of stainless steel LS headers I can cut up and do that to. They will get their turn.

1) I'm not that good with TIG yet
2) I want this done more than I want it pretty
3) Because?
If you're not goot with the TIG process, starting with cast iron isn't going to help you. IMHO, get pretty good and then move to a difficult material. Good luck either way, and be sure to share pics.
