Overall, I'm pleased with its condition. Should machine up well. The bearings are worn, but that's their job.

Fished these out the hole. I have about 5 more bolts to get the turbo detached from the exhaust then the head can come free.

396K on the truck as of now.
God bless you.

I admit I was a fool, and I’ve traded my beloved ‘06 Tahoe with a mere 225k for a ‘17 Suburban.

The hoe needed a ton of work, and as much as I wanted to keep it, we needed more space as the childrens are bigger and have more junk.

At least it’s still a solid rear axle and V8, working on having spare engines on hand, hoping to keep this one forever as there are no more new vehicles being made.

Huh, #3 intake valves look like they made a kissy-kissy with the piston, but everything else looks pretty good.

Gonna get it cleaned up at the machine shop, and send it off.

Old machinist trick for finding bent valves: turn the head over and fill the combustion chambers with brake fluid and let it sit overnight to see if it leaks down the intake or exhaust ports.

Bonus is it cleans the shit out of the chambers too.
