Advice The Home Improvement/Automation Thread

I've been idling considering solar panels. One side of the roof faces south so it'd be great for panels. Not awfully big though, so I don't know if that would produce enough power. That said, solar is still pretty expensive up here and ROI isn't there yet I think.
 
I thought you were trying to be green? How much water do you waste not using A/C that your solar panels could pay for?

Swamp cooler recycles same water through the system. Only loss is to evaporation/humidifying the air. Your a/c wastes more water in condensate going down the drain than his swamp cooler uses.

They usually have a bleed from the pump line (sometimes an entire purge pump that goes off once a month or so) to keep the water fresh, too.
