Once upon a time there was a gay footballer. He killed himself. Everyone learned a lesson. There are no longer any gay footballers.

Thing is though some footballers actually believe (or want to believe) that none of their team mates or anyone they've played against is or could possibly be gay.

I am more interested in the mocking by the spectators. Has there been any change with regard to that? I thought there were some new rules started about that recently.

It's not something I'm aware of. Let's face it, with no footballers coming out, there's no opportunity to see what the reaction would be. Racism is pretty much non-existant in English football, homophobia doesn't have an outlet.

I sent a question about diving to the Chelsea Football Fancast crew (http://www.chelseafancast.com) and they addressed it on the air for about 5 minutes. I sent it in following the Chelsea/Inter Milan Champions League match in which Inter spent much of the game rolling on the ground and subsequently won, eliminating the Blues from the competition. The spectacle about made me put a foot through my t.v. and have an embolism. Paul, one of the crew who actually works in the media, brings up a very good point regarding Ronaldo and another famous old Pele incident. Fast forward to the 1:03:30 mark to have a listen. Chidge, the host, suggested more capital punishment, which I agree with.
