wouldn't categorize it necc as priorities, though that's certainly relevant. the fact that people hustle the system (pay taxes anyone?) and get away with it bothers me.
i remem when i first graduated. there was a hiring freeze for teachers so i did construction, worked at a rec center, bounced ("you don't want none o' this 190 pounds buddy!" lmao).
had 3 roomies cause none of us could afford to live alone.
had my kid over on wknds with no bed, just pulled couch cushions off and made pallets for him.
and to go into the store and see people in line ahead of me buying surf and turf with food stamps, and i'm eatin pasta 3 nights a week and "splurging" on hamburger helper workin 3 jobs..
well, something's wrong there. "-(
i know families here that are hardworking, simply underemployed, but generally hardworking people. (not smart, mind you, but at least honorably and gainfully employed) these people's kids got 2 pair of pants, 4 shirts, dirty shoes, whatever.
but they bust they butts to get school supplies in and pay for their kids lunch.
and then some lil mofo walks in in fresh a$$ jordans ($140+ mind you), a new outfit every week, and got EXTRA money for a snack EVERY day, but gettin free lunch.
i mean, one would logically think that if you got money for an extra cookie or ice cream sandwich YOU GOT FOCKING MONEY TO BUY THE LUNCH..
