If you don't need an authentic one, you can find these things at any gun and knife show or even online built from refabbed Finnish rifles dating from the 1940s-1960s. They aren't that hard to find. I want one eventually too.

Fully authentic ones may no longer be functional, and the ones that are will be mucho dinero since they've been so well taken care of. Refabbed ones (some of the ironwork has been replaced, like the bolt, etc.) are less but feature the original wood stock and all that. They've just been fixed to make them fire again.

Springfield still makes M1 Garands for about $1300-1400, though you can likely find them for a lot less at a gun show. Direct from the manufacturer will always kill your wallet.

The ones from the CMP, though not completely original, are pretty nice and inexpensive.

Fulton Armory makes ones even nicer than the Springers, but oh so much money
