I've been to a number of functions that served the beer in plastic cups, even good beer, usually for fear of glass breakage. Only seen it in bars during a game like you say.

And of course, every swim-up bar I've been to uses plastic cups

I've been to a lot of places that serve out of plastic cups. I hate them. But yeah, it's usually because of breakage concerns, especially at dance clubs or high volume clubs.

Thank god corner pubs still recognize the need for getting one's drink on proper.

corner pubs are exactly the kind of joints I frequent so I guess that's why I rarely ever see plastic served
