I used to work for some controlling dicks who didn't want anyone at all on the internet despite the fact it was rather useful to me in my job. So I bought and installed a 10 dollar modem when they canceled the really cheap DSL service they had which should have had close to 50 people sharing it and my office phone was all of a sudden busy when anyone tried to call.

I heard that sound once or twice before I disabled the noise maker.
