Now I'm wondering if I use the neck pickup only, will it sound as bright? I'm really a victim of too many pickups. I truly believe that. Stop my oppression. Someone steal one of the pickups out of my bass.

Tone is subjective. There is a certain place where some have expressed the opinion that even a mudbucker can be too bright if not EQ'd correctly.

Did some more research. Don't like the pickups blended. Like one or the other.
Now, the blend control is a great thing. Chances are I'll have it up on stage one night and the only thing which will cut through is both pickups blended and the tone pot full.

I can boil down all this EQ nonsense to one concept. I'm halfway through a gig, I turn a knob and even though my bass sound sounds like crap I say to myself holy crap I can actually hear what I'm playing!
