Hmm, guess it depends on what it is you're proud of and how much merit is in it personally. I don't find being proud of shallow things to warrant any merit.

I think there's a difference between feeling pride in something and showing off though. If you get a PhD then of course you're proud, but introducing yourself to people by saying 'lol i have a phd' is just ridic.

You may never drive that engine to redline, except possibly in first gear, since it peaks at 5,500rpm.

The theory in racing is that you want to make your torque later in the curve. Doing so allows you to stay in gear longer, given a fixed set of gear ratios. The 6,200 redline makes sense for that engine, since power falls after 5,500.

My initial point, which I guess I did a poor job alluding to, is that that specific engine configuration isn't optimal for a sports car, which is why I found it weird to see it in a sports sedan. If you want slightly better fuel economy, a v6 is fine. If you want the torque, a v8 is fine. That engine is basically cheating a v8. Except it's not preferable, imo.
