We here in Orange County have a local issue regarding the homeless. The homeless are flocking to the area from around the country because of the lax attitude of law enforcement in the area regarding homeless encampments. What was once a few tents on a multi county recreational bike trail that stretches from the mountains to the ocean, is now a series of homeless encampments numbering in the hundreds. This has created a health hazard due to fecal matter and hypodermic needles being found along the trail as well as reports of physical threats to people utilizing the trail for recreational use and the occasional confrontation between the homeless and those utilizing the recreational facility. Many people who no longer utilize the trail due to safety concerns or simply live next to it are like "Fuck the homeless, get them off of our tax paid for trail and throw them somewhere else, then enforce the no camping laws so they don't come back. If they refuse to leave, arrest them." while others are sympathetic for the homeless and are championing the lack of law enforcement allowing them to live there without consequence.
