Still, making a kid stand there while grandpa or grandma are being changed has to leave some kinda impression one would think.
You know, my neighbor at my former house actually did that. He was driving with his grandson, cop lights come on. The grandson told him "grandpa, I got some coke on me." "Grandpa took the hit - one year in the county. When I moved there the old man was there, then he disappeared, then he was back. I thought maybe he and the wife had split. And still, once or twice a week the grandson would come over and smoke weed in their attic, blowing it out the window. While gramps was in jail for his ass. POS kid.

I agree, they should just throw everyone back in school and skip this whole remote education thing.

Having a bunch of parents/relatives drop dead will only affect a small percentage of kids, right? Why should the kids whose parents can't survive the hoax chinavirus hold up the education of everyone else?

They ought to hold kids back to where they stopped going in person.

And yeah, they also ought to follow the current CDC guidelines for safely reopening schools.

Gramps was an 80+ AA gentleman - the nicest neighbor I ever had. And not a hater or anything - he actually explained to me what the deal was with this other AA neighbor that wouldn't even acknowledge my presence. "He goes to a hater church Eddie, don't waste your time on him." He was a straight talker but rarely swore. Kept the yard neat as can be. rip :(

Well, I certainly am not advocating for that. I think the remote is necessary. We can have both.
But I think it's also fucked up and going to fuck up many people, young and old.

My one nephew is having a very hard time with virtual learning but he is barely out of kindergarten. His older brother is doing OK. Most of the time. I stop and think, if I had to do this when I was a kid, I don't think I could sit still. Way too many distractions.

They just got early results on the state academic testing here - very few students are moving forward. And those "troubled" kids who normally end up down in a special resources room - nah, they're fucking up the zoom meet that your college-bound kid actually wants to learn from. No child left behind.

Yeah, our BoE just met this week to confirm that they're keeping school online for the rest of the year, despite the fact that the number of students failing have quadrupled as compared to in-person attendance, and the governor has given them a go-ahead to return to the classroom.

In fact, one of the parrots that is particularly deep in the teachers' union's pocket said that we should get used to virtual attendance on a permanent basis, and even be thankful that it was forced on us. I about kicked over my laptop when I heard that shit.

Humans are fucking resilient. The children will be fine missing a single year of in person learning. This will not matter in ten years.
So one takes ten to recover from? It's almost like each progression of education is built on what was learned previously or something.
