Okay, so, in my boredom, and my depression over how left4dead just didn't do it for me, I decided to pick up a game I've wanted to try for a while, mostly because back in the day, Homeworld was such a kick in the ass. Since I love RTS's, and especially super complex multi level RTSs, I picked up Sins Of A Solar Empire.

All I can say is Holy Shit. This game is as complex as I thought it would be, and the ability to create space fleets and move them through a 3D universe, taking over planets, doing research, resource creation, etc. fucking wow.

Anyone else tried this? It's about a year after it's release, so it's on markdown now.

Personally, I love super complex RTSs, that can take hours, days, even weeks to play a complete game. With almost a complete encyclopedia of knowledge to master something like this, it appeals to the techno-geek in me.

Has anyone else tried this?

Be careful dude. If your brain expands from that new alien knowledge you could really jack up your stiches and staples.

Nope, Not much micromanaging per se. I just finished a game, and once you develop a planet, it's done. Resource and credit generation runs on automatic. Develop a new tech? It's auto applied where it needs to be. Most of your managing is your fleet, moving it to new sectors to colonize or demolish. Running scouts to forge ahead, doing diplomatic treaties with factions, etc.

None of the CnC resource gathering management, no need to move ships to a place to get an upgrade put in. It's fantastic.

whats amazing is the scale. You can view an entire galaxy, and then drill down to watch some fighters take out an orbital station, like Supreme Commander. It's pretty crazy.
