Probably countries where cell service isn't prevalent and costs are high to run individual copper pairs to each subscriber. No Telcos in the US provide party line as the primary service, because the USF doesn't fund any party line, only private lines. I suppose party lines could be ordered by reading the tarrifs and forcing the Telco to do it, but that's crazy talk.

my grandma had one until the late 90s or so. she lives on a farm about a mile off a main road, and had another neighbor about another mile down. fantastic place.
