speedboost/powerboost is included - at least in the chicago market - with the 6 and 8 meg accounts. kicks in automatically, I'm guessing it's throttled either server side or with the cable modem which makes me think they accidentally gave me an unlocked modem 
I originally thought of the file size but it never did this at the last place. Schmilk and I noticed a few months ago that the speed boost kicked in and we'd get those speeds for the first 50mb total and then it would throttle back down. :o

nice speeds. I top out around 5-6 mbps with my plain ol' comcast. I don't understand why anyone would have DSL in place of cable.
I called Comcast on my way home last night and they are currently "implementing" speedboost in the Atlanta area now. It should be rolled out to all ATL by end of year.
Some areas of ATL already have it (check the Comcast forums on DSLreports.com) and are getting speeds of 10-20mbs consistantly. Also we're going to see a bump from 6mbs to 8mbs down standard and 8mbs to 10mbs down for the extra $10/month.

btw I'm still getting uber speeds. slowed down the other night when I played some battlefield but yesterday and today is still flowing at 25+

the download test is inaccurate because it only reports around 14-15. it's doesn't download enough to get up to full speed or something downloading from newsgroups is far more accurate because it actually uses the full pipe which why newsgroups are infintely better than torrents
