I dove down the rabbit hole of all the terrible prog metal I used to love in high school. oh boy.

it's really just a bunch of "how do we take what meshuggah's doing....and remove 100% of its teeth"


I have this problem where I try to find new to me metal and then wind up thinking, "Why listen to this when Meshuggah exists?"

pretty much. I end up just cycling back through gojira/meshuggah/opeth/DEP depending on mood at this point.

friend said that obzen ruined a decade of metal and it's lowkey true.

Lots of their "artsier"/experimental stuff annoys me.

Automatic for the People is a fucking good album though, and the other few albums from around that time were great.

I get it with the artsy stuff but if you see them live it's like holy shit that's a great band. More raw, not as artsy, but the stuff that is artsy makes sense.

Idk. In person they just bring it.
